Linux On Servers

Just a few more comments. 

The benefits of running enterprise level server software is that you get 
some vendor support and a stable platform. (As previous mentioned, Fedora, 
OpenSuSE, SuSE Linux - retail) are generally cutting edge and things might 
not work after an up2date or YOU session. Additionally, in the case of IBM 
and HP, both fully support Linux on those listed servers. With Fedora, 
OpenSuSE, SuSE Linux - retail, Debian, CentOS, you do not get support from 
any vendor. 

Like any business decision you need to weigh the consequences. 
The bottom line is that both HP and IBM do certify that some version of 
Linux run on their servers and both Red Hat and SuSE certify that their 
products run.
