solaris 8 Timeout....ARP/Packet.......

I installed solaris 8 on my sparc20.  When i boot up it gives the Timeout .....ARP/Packet and it keeps going.  I tried setenv and changed the value of tplink to false, but it still does the same thing.  Even if i plug it in to a hub it still doesn't boot.  Any ideas.....

would it help if i cleared out the settings (like on intel wipe out the cmos) and start out fresh.?
