Look at the pro-forma XF86Config file. It is confusing. I use SuSE and
they include one in the distribution (at least where I can find it). You
might want to log in to one of the distributions on the Compaq test drive
center and look somewhere in /usr/X11R6. In SuSE I think it is
XF86Config.example. Here is some text from Red Hat:
# Modes can be specified in two formats. A compact one-line format, or
