It depends a great deal on what you want it for. For example, if you want
to play online games with it (like quake), several people I know have
reported that it is actually WORSE than the 56k modem they were using
before.
If you want to run a web server or something, 28k outgoing just ain't
enough bandwidth, unless you are only serving to your friends and
relatives, and they are very patient people.
And yes, I know that doing this is a violation of M1's contract, but that
doesn't mean there aren't lots of people doing it. They approach it with
a "don't-ask-don't-tell" mentality, so long as you are not a bandwidth
pig.
