I don't think this is true, but even if it is I'm positive that windows
does not need to be on the first one, because I've done this before. So
you can use partition magic to move/resize partitions, and install dos on
the hda1 partition, if need be.
You then need to set up lilo to know about your three bootable partitions
(DOS, windows, and linux), which I can't give directions how to do since
it's been so long since I've gotten that in-depth with lilo... last time I
did something like this was like 3-4 years ago. However the lilo manpage
and the Linux install howto ( http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP ) give pretty
good information on how to do this.
