Not just that. The wifi card is in an M.2 2230 slot, which is
intriguing. (Put wifi in an expansion slot and something else in the
extra M.2 wifi?) And of course the RAM and regular SSD not being soldered.
And for those who want to haul around a Framework 16:
* Another (short) M.2 slot.
* Six of the USB-C-based expansion module slots (instead of just four in
the Framework 13).
* "Input modules". It looks like the keyboard can be mounted centered
with 33.825 mm of space either side, or it can be positioned left and a
keypad put on the right. As for when centered, the two side spaces can
be dummies, or have some gizmo there instead. Something similar happens
for the trackpad/palm rest. (I don't know if the extra space has to be
dummy, or whether there are IO connections available.)
* An "expansion bay", it looks like a section along the back/bottom of
the machine can be pulled off and a deeper/thicker thing plugged in
instead. Making your Framework 16 even bigger and heavier than it
already is.
The options for these custom bits are still limited, but in time it
might turn into some real options.
