Might be possible that something old is stuck in the lpr queue.
Check to see if there are any old jobs sitting around in your queues (for
the old printer):
lpstat -o
Remove all old jobs if necessary:
cancel -a {printer} *(where {printer} is substituted wiht the old
printer name from lpstat)*
Restarting the cups service can't hurt either, IMO.
