sigh ... surely i never typed "rm /dev/sdb" but nonetheless
it disappeared. i recreated it and tried wipefs. my various
commands are in the b1 file shown here:
# bin/b1
# sudo mknod -m660 /dev/sdb b 8 0
# sudo chown root.disk /dev/sdb
ls -l /dev/sd*
# sudo mke2fs -text4 -LBCKUP1n /dev/sdb
# sudo mount -text4 /dev/sdb /run/media/moylan/BCKUP1n
sudo wipefs -o 0x438 /dev/sdb
moylan cmd[1232] b1

df shows no sdb. how can it be busy? did i somehow
miscreate it?
