Pretty interesting:
The HTML5 "Broadway" backend allows rendering GTK applications in
HTML5-capable browsers. That means that you can run Gedit, GIMP and
other applications in a web browser (both local and remotely).

That article is over a year old, and it refers to the videos it embeds
as "old," so it sounds like this functionality was introduced quite a
while ago, yet we haven't heard much (anything?) about it since. Makes
me think development on it has either ceased, or was found to be
impractical.
