Interesting. The self-test only tests the drive itself, it doesn't
really do much to test the path between the drive and the system.
You should skim the files in /var/log. (It's probably a good idea to
check those files on a regular basis anyway as errors will sometimes
show up there before they become evident in changes to application
behavior.)
