Debian dual boot with Windows 7

I guess that I could buy a new hard drive in the future and have one
drive for Windows and the second for Linux.  The hard drive currently
on my system is SATA2.  However, my motherboard is set to handle SATA3
so I was planning to upgrade in the future.  I did have concerns that
if I upgrade to SATA3 that the SATA2 drive would slow down the entire
system since it would dictate the speed.

Maybe I will just let window resize my partition to 500Gb using the
Window7 provided software and then use the remaining 500Gb for Linux.

This will be the easiest route to go.  I will probably be able to get
a 100Tb SATA 3 next year for $100.
