FWIW - I'm a home FiOS customer, and although I'll rarely be caught saying
nice things about Verizon - their billing dept and tech support etc are
atrocious ... I love their internet service.  They're one of few who don't
do anything weird or sneaky with their connections.  (I don't think you can
say the same thing about verizon dsl or mobile broadband; I'm just talking
about FiOS here.)  None of my traffic is filtered or throttled.  I have
normal DNS (none of this opendns Bull-stuff) and long story short, I just
love their home network connection.

I do run servers at home.  Have for about 2 years on fios, and previously
had many frustrating experiences doing the same or similar things on RCN.  I
get around the need for a static IP by using DynDNS, which basically never
has any problem, and easily alerts you if there is any problem.

No problems (yet) running home servers on my fios line.
