ide driver loses flash

Not sure what kind of flash device you have (built-in/sata/usb, etc).

Try the following commands to see if SMART works on the device and is
detecting anything.  Look at man page and fiddle with '-d' option if
ata doesn't work:
smartctl -d ata -H /dev/hda
smartctl -d ata -a /dev/hda
