If you are going to use Linux software raid, I draw your attention to the
section headed "Why do drive failures come in pairs" which explains why
Linux software raid 5 is problematic. Otherwise, we like the software
raid, especially because it reduces dependence on hardware that may be
hard to replace, and which doesn't improve performance much anyway.
