hp mini 110, virtualbox, 1200x600

hi.

i'm playing around with an hp mini 110-1125nr.  i have fedora running
in virtualbox (win7 is host os).  i'm having a problem getting fedora
to use the correct resolution.  1200x600.  the gui doesn't give this
for an option and when i edit the conf file myself with this value it
doesn't work.  it appears x jumps to a larger resolution.  anybody get
linux to look right under an odd situation like this and have a tip
for me?
