I'm not sure how much I can help. On my laptop I get 4 or 5 bars at work =

and at home with Ubuntu 9.04. The only place I have any trouble is at=20
MSFT Waltham where the connection tends to drop mysteriously and I can't =

get back on, them mysteriously it reconnects. Being in the same room as=20
the AP eliminates distance, but not other factors. If you dual boot your =

Macbook Pro, then test the signal strength with it, then boot into=20
ubuntu. Is your wireless builtin or do you have an external card (USB or =

PCMCIA).

Make sure that you have wireless-tools installed.

From the command line rune iwconfig. This will show you what network=20
you are connected too, bit rate (Mb/s, LInk Quality and any errors. The=20
iwlist command is also a decent diagnostic tool. There are a few other=20
tools, do a 'man wireless tools" to bring up the man page.
