Testing DVD writing drive

Thanks to everybody for the suggestions.  The easiest thing to try was
the other spindle of DVD's so I did that, and it's written two out of
three and is working on the third with no problems.  (The other spindle
was dual layer, so I would have only needed 2 of them, but if they don't
work...)
