I've used Mwave.com as an occasional alternative to newegg. They have a
fairly wide selection, and aggressive prices, but an inferior site to
newegg when it comes to product research.

geeks.com and computergate.com are similar. provantage.com is more like
a wholesaler (almost an obsolete concept these days), but their often
lower product prices are canceled out by excessive shipping charges. The
one advantage they offer is that like newegg, they have regionally
distributed warehouses and can fulfill orders quickly.
Micro Center has gone out of their way to synchronize their CPU prices
with online retailers. If they'd do that, or at least come closer to it
for the rest of the components, I'd use them a lot more. It's also hard
to beat the convenience of ordering online and being able to pick up the
item 30 minutes later in Cambridge.
