Fragmenting the community into yet another group works counter to this
goal. The best way to accomplish this goal is to get a devoted group of
volunteers to contribute to MythTV itself on compatibility with your
desired platform, improvements in autodetection/AI in the installer, and
most of all, the documentation.
If you're going to really try to resell the software, or sell boxen
pre-configured, you're going to have all the issues Jarod mentioned,
plus you now need to convince your devoted group to do sales,
advertising, tech support for when Grandma's cup holder breaks, manage a
business bank account, and submit tons of tax/state/federal forms. Then
you neighbor reports you for zoning restrictions because you're running
a business out of your home.
How dedicated will they be then?
I started a business. I've been there.
