rhel5 wireless?

There is a system-config-network, but it does not bring up the wireless
just by clicking on the buttons or menus. I know I can use the
wireless-tools package, but that's too much of the old unix way of
things. embed commands in rc.local files etc. I was hoping for something
more automated an gui friendly.... Is there a package which I can use
which will monitor what WAP's are visible to the laptop and then allow
me to choose which one I want to hook up to?
Cheers. Steve.
