Help me pick a CPU/Mobo

How do others feel about doing development on a widescreen?  To me,
seeing more lines of code is better than more columns of code.

This is becoming a big deal, because it looks like a lot of the high end
laptops are widescreen.  In particular, all of the HP laptops are WXGA.
