I use the Firefox search plugin for thefreedictionary.com and also the
acronym section.  It's cross-platform, and a simple copy+paste+enter
will get the information.  (Note that highlighting text in any
application in Linux copies that text to your clipboard, and a
subsequent middle mouse (wheel) click will paste that text--making the
copy paste part really quick.)
