We wouldn't be able to host the videos on the BLU servers, but I see
no reason why we couldn't host them on something like YouTube. We could
also make DVD-quality images available on the Installfest server so
people attending our Installfests could burn their own DVDs.
I started videotaping our meetings back in 2000, with the idea of
having the raw footage available for when the Linux video editing
tools finally mature. I kept it up for a couple years until one of
our speakers asked us not to record his presentation. After that I
never really got back into it.
Also, it didn't occur to me until later to ask for signed releases
from the presenters, so the footage would be unusable anyway until
I tracked down whoever I needed releases from for each meeting.
As long as we can satisfy the liability issues, I see no reason not
to try this. Josh sounded willing to allow it for his talk in January.
