Thunderbird extension -- filter with REs?

Hi,

does anybody know about such beast? Sometimes I need to use Thunderbird
(usually I am on KMail), but filtering on TB seems to be so primitive, that
I cannot believe nobody created an extension which would allow using
regular expressions? However, when Googling for it, I found exactly zero
(and one very old and very forgotten bug for Mozilla Mail --
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19442 -- from 1999!).

Any ideas?
