I've been reasonably happy with Intel 2200BG (Centrino)
chipsets. Both B and G modes work well in Linux, with a little
hassle about getting the right firmware. Plus, they usually
come with Intel GMA940 graphics chips, which are well-supported
by X in both 2D and 3D modes. Not the fastest card in the world,
but adequate for my non-gaming needs.
