Position Summary
----------------
Member of the Red Hat Network (RHN) Quality Assurance (QA) Engineering
team. Debugs software products through the use of systematic tests to
develop, apply and maintain quality standards for RHN products. Develops
and executes software test plans. Analyzes and writes test standards and
procedures. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in
debugging and modification of software. Analyzes test results to ensure
existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Consults with
development engineers in resolution of problems. Works on moderately
complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review
of a variety of factors. Exercises good judgment and initiative to
determine appropriate action. Has sufficient understanding of subject
area to advise and provide guidance within area of expertise. Generally
works independently on tasks.
Requirements
------------
Successful applicant will hold a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
work experience as an Engineer. Applicant will be proficient in software
development processes, and have 1+ years experience in a Sustaining
Engineering, Release Engineering, QA Engineering, or development
environment. In addition, they will have the following qualifications:
* Proficiency in a variety of scripting languages, including python,
shell, and perl preferred.
* Proficiency in Java preferred.
* Strong Linux operating system knowledge.
* Strong understanding of software development life-cycle.
* Familiarity with CVS or Subversion.
* Familiarity with databases.
* Understanding of traditional programming fundamentals.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Ability to interact effectively with cross functional teams.
* Strong intercommunication skills.
* Occasional travel may be required.
* Ability to work without supervision required.
