In all fairness to HP, both the classic HP and Digital (acquired as a
result of Compaq) have supported Linux.
Normally, when notebooks come out, they are usually not well supported
by Linux, and I checked the Linux on Laptops and they did not list any
of the zv series.
In any case, I checked the SuSE Linux database, and the Radeon 9000
chips are fully supported. In the past, I have found that support may
not exist in all distros. You might try to download a Knoppix,
MandrakeMove or Dynebolics standalone CD.
BTW: Most laptop vendors do not provide Linux drivers for the laptops.
