Errrr.... following your own explanation of the problem, it seems
quite clear that you can not boot from a RAID-5 device. Your kernel
and boot loader must be on something else, such as RAID-1 or non-raid
partition. Those are precisely the components needed to boot the
system, so you can not boot from RAID-5. QED.

Unless you actually want support from Red Hat. If you build your own
kernel, you will not be supported...
