Bit Torrent

How does Bit Torrent work?  Is it basically a distributed download where 
you download from several servers in parallel?  How secure is it?

FWIW - I think Fedora Test 3 is being released next Monday (4/26).  I 
found Test 2 to be very unstable.  e.g.  It got into a state where I 
can't log in to it anymore so I'm not going to bother with it and just 
wipe the disk and install Test 3 when it comes out.
