Cable Modems

I've been using the Toshiba for about a year with no issues.

I had heard that the LanCity can be cranked up for push speed greater than
300k, but it was just a M-1 rumor. I also think the LanCity uses more power
as it runs a little hotter - that radial fin heatsink reminds me of my first
European (DKW)motocross bike :-)

Subject: Cable Modems

I have been on AT&T Broadband (nee Mediaone.net nee Highway1.net) for over 5
years, and I
still continue to rent my Lan City cable modem which has had zero problems
(they did swap an old
one out that had an AUI connector).

Looking at prices, the Linksys BEFCMU10 is selling for $104.95 at Amazon
(free shipping via
stage coach, no tax). The Toshiba PCX1100 is 149.99 ($149.99 at Best Buy),
Motorola DOCSIS
External Cable Modem (SB4100) for $129.95.

All of the above are DOCSIS and certified by AT&T BB. In the past I have had
very good luck with
Linksys products. Does anyone have any personal experience with any of the
above 3 good or
bad. Amazon rates the Motorola with 5 stars. They also have a 3Com for about
$90 (plus
shipping) rated at 3 stars.
