Hmmm, I had quite a different experience. I was in the same situation
(I think) a few weeks ago. After waiting a couple of days for my CM
connection to return on its own I finally called ATTBI. Aside from the
usual MS style handholding ("Open Internet Explorer," "Right Click on My
Computer," etc) the tech was helpful. She barely flinched when my
response to "Start Internet Explorer" was "There isn't a machine in the
house that runs IE."
For the record, I completed the re-registration using Galeon 1.2.5 on
my laptop from the internal network. The CM was connected to my firewall
running OpenBSD the whole time. It's possible that they have "improved"
the process so that it now only works with IE, and when directly
connected. It's more likely though, that they'll tell you that just
because it's the way they want it done.
