The problem, if I may say so, boils down to a desire to
get something for nothing which, in this case, is the
attempt to use a pervasive cloud of email attachments
in lieu of distributed filesystems.  Were we all to
have taken a vow to send by reference not by value, we
might be somewhere by now rather than facing the near
certainty of content filtering and all the invasiveness
that will surely follow.
