ok... this is what I have ended up doing for all that have offered their
suggestions
1- reinstalled RH 6.1 with all packages
2- ran good ol XF86Setup - selected modes and sync ranges per monitor specs
3- completed install
4- text mode and 1024x768 mode in X still quiver
5- moved machine monitor and all into an adjacent office - MONITOR NO LONGER
SHAKES
-- conclude that flourescent lights or similar power issues are to blame
for this problem
-- "better: monitor installed on Compaq armada running Win2K does not
quiver and quake
-- turned lights off, still quakes
6- attempted to plug RH box into plug that Win2K machine is on and still
have same results.
thanks all for your input...
so now... i need to figure out what I am going to actually DO with this
beastie :)
