Help installing RH Linux 6.1 on laptop...

All,
I did a text install and let it sit for hours. Linux install never actually did
complete so I rebooted system. Following a filesystem check, Linux started OK. I
had to run Xconfigurator separately to recognize monitor and mouse. Looks like
system is operational now....don't know how. It shouldn't be like this but
everthing seems to checkout.
