SuSE 6.3 comes with an APM-enabled kernel, though it's not the
default. Near the end of the installation process, you get asked
which kernel you want.

If you didn't install the APM kernel at first, you can also use
YaST to switch to a different kernel later on. Go to the System
Administration section, and choose Kernels and Bootconfiguration.
