Kevin Gleason asks:

I reply:

xv works well. Fire it up, right click in the splash screen and look
for a grab button on the lower left corner of the command dialog.

ImageMagick (display) can do grabs, too. When invoked with no args
it presents a startup dialog with a grab button.

Both programs allow you to select a window to grab or to stretch out
a rectangle on the screen.

Hope this helps,
ccb
