Operation not permitted

[Subba Rao]

I am trying to "su - username" and get the following messages in the
Xterm

   /dev/ttyp2: Operation not permitted

How can I fix this error? I am doing the above operation as root user,
switching
to a regular user.

Any info appreciated.
