Hi Jerry -
I don't know what other hardware vendors do. I suspect that the
hardware vendors that have been evolving with Linux for more than a
couple of years are doing some performance tuning. I suspect that Dell
is giving you straight Red Hat on a configuration originally designed
for NT ( ;-) ). The Mandrake Linux I was talking about is the boxed
CDROM version. I gleaned this nugget from the back of the box.
