That is correct. M1X will not let any traffic through unless it has the
registered MAC address. If you change MAC addresses, M1X will also assign
you a new IP address. I don't know the extent of the code in the cable
modem. Unfortunately, Derek Martin's email has had some problems, and may
not get to him. When I switched NICS a while back, it took about 5 mins for
the tech to update the database. At that time it took a few days for the new
IP address to get into the DNS server, but I think that they have this
process more under control these days.
