According to the RCN Salesperson I spoke to who use to work for M1X the RCN services is faster, and the modem isn't a space heater. He also gave me his number so if I have any problems, you know the first person I'm going to call. Overall, though, the pricing for RCN in Waltham was competitive enough for me to switch. 2 cable boxes, all the channels except NESN, 2 phone lines, and the cable modem for the same price I was paying for 1 cable box with most of the channels, 1 phone line from Bell Atlantic, and the cable modem.
RCN will state and put on their forms that you have linux. They claim not to flinch if you have a home network, I showed the salesperson, and they say they don't care if you run a server as long as you aren't doing 20-30MB a day. Then they say you qualify as a business and have to pay the higher rate.
I wasn't going to switch, but this just kept getting better and better. Let's hope it all works out when they come to do the install when I get back from vacation. I'm crossing my fingers.
