For what it's worth, I think the announcements are a legitimately valuable
service.  They only appear once every two or three months, and they always
offer a free review copy for the group.  On several occasions, they have
provided free giveaways from the meetings.  So far, the annoucements have
all
been relevant to the purpose of the group.
